The scale of the 133rd Canton Fair set a record

      The 133rd Canton Fair will be held in three phases from April 15 to May 5, and the online platform will be operated regularly throughout the year. About 35,000 import and export companies participated in the offline exhibition of this Canton Fair, and the exhibition area and exhibitors both achieved a substantial increase.


Xu Bing, spokesperson of the Canton Fair and deputy director of the China Foreign Trade Center, said that this session of the Canton Fair is the largest in history, with both the exhibition area and the number of exhibitors hitting record highs. The total exhibition area has increased from 1.18 million square meters to 1.5 million square meters, and the number of booths has increased from 60,000 to nearly 70,000. The number of offline exhibitors increased from 25,000 to 34,933, the number of new exhibitors exceeded 9,000, and the number of online exhibitors reached 39,281.


At the same time, this year's Canton Fair further expanded the scale of the import exhibition. For the first time, an import exhibition was set up in all three exhibition periods, reaching 30,000 square meters, an increase of 50% compared with that before the epidemic. 508 companies from 40 countries and regions participated in 12 professional exhibition areas, of which 73% were exhibitors from countries and regions along the “Belt and Road”. There are 6 national and regional pavilions. Introduce national-level import trade promotion and innovation demonstration zones such as Guangzhou Nansha, Guangzhou Huangpu, Wenzhou Ouhai, etc., publicize the business environment and innovation achievements of the demonstration zones, promote the deepening of practical cooperation between countries and regions and the demonstration zones, and jointly promote the liberalization and convenience of international trade change.


Among the exhibitors of this Canton Fair, manufacturing enterprises and private enterprises are the largest exhibitors, accounting for 50.57% and 90.1% respectively. The number of high-quality characteristic enterprises hit a record high. There are a total of about 5,700 leading enterprises in the industry and high-quality enterprises with titles such as "little giants" specializing in specialization, manufacturing individual champions, national high-tech enterprises, and national enterprise technology centers. The quality of exhibits has been further improved. Enterprises have uploaded more than 3 million exhibits online, including nearly 800,000 new products and nearly 500,000 green and low-carbon products.


During the current Canton Fair, the 2nd Pearl River International Trade Forum will hold 5 themed forums and 18 industry forums. The 5 themed forums were respectively themed on creating a highland for investment system innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, trade digital innovation and development, new opportunities for China-Africa and West Asia economic and trade cooperation, intellectual property protection and high-quality trade development, and financial empowerment for high-quality development of foreign trade. Invite well-known experts and leaders of leading companies in the industry to discuss innovative development paths. The 18 industry forums focused on topics such as green development, robotics and industrial automation, brand creation by design, and export risk response. Representatives from leading overseas companies, cross-border financial service platforms, and trade digital platforms were invited to share their successful experiences.
